This is a Logo I made for a hypothetical design studio I owned. I created it for my Interactive Design class as part of an assignment.
The process started out with making 20 sketches to explore ideas of what the logo could be. I wanted something to do with umbrellas, but had to quickly pivot as I found a design studio called “Brella” which essentially already had the logo I wanted to go for.
To avoid potential legal trouble or any confusion, I decided to keep the umbrella idea but infuse the moon into it.
I had a group critique and give opinions on the sketches, and it was almost unanimous (including me) what the best two were. The next step was to re-create one of the sketches in Adobe Illustrator, one in black and white, and one in color. After that, I had that same group critique it and I found that all of the issues were readily and easily fixed.
Some text was too small and the gradients were barely noticeable. Once I had completed the fixes, the project was completed.
I have a fondness for the color purple, the moon, and umbrellas, so I figured I’d probably mash that all together to make that into my brand if I were to create a design studio.
While making this logo design, I became increasingly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and am now confident with this software. My art skills have now grown and found another medium of tools to be expressed through.
